HONEY FOR THE HEART
The benefits of honey for the heart have long been known in folk medicine. And this old truth has found scientific confirmation: honey contains a lot of glucose and other simple sugars (the so-called “fast” carbohydrates), which provide the heart muscle with enough energy. Honey also has “roundabout ways” to our heart – contributing to the normalization of the nervous and endocrine systems, the circulatory system, it, thus, indirectly affects the function of the heart and blood vessels.
Warm water with honey at night is a well-known sedative that can help lower high blood pressure (honey for the heart is taken on an empty stomach). It is believed that honey improves the condition of blood vessels, for example, regulates the tone of capillaries and maintains normal permeability of their walls, having a noticeable effect on the myocardium.
Decoctions of wild rose or St. John’s wort with honey are recommended to stimulate the activity of the heart. They are easy to prepare, pleasant to the taste and very useful due to the combination of vitamins contained in these plants and the healing substances of honey.
Simple folk recipes will not only support the body, but will certainly enrich your diet.
