The Altai Territory is located in a temperate climatic zone. Average temperatures in summer are kept at the level of 20-30 degrees. Due to the mountainous relief and rich water resources of this region, the required level of humidity is constantly maintained here. Variable terrain contributes to protection from winds and the penetration of cold air masses. Therefore, plants excrete nectar abundantly throughout the summer, and the honey is always rich, strong and fragrant.
It is especially important to note the rich melliferous vegetation of the region: more than 500 species of vascular plants and 50 species of tree species grow here. Most of the melliferous plants are wild mountain plants, hence the special healing properties of Altai honey. In mountain forests, in valleys and forest glades, there are often extensive thickets of the richest herbaceous and shrubby plants (kandyk, lungwort, willow, yellow acacia, cyanosis, angelica, rusyanka, raspberry, fireweed, tartar, sassurea and others). The variety of soil and climatic zones on the territory of the region makes it possible to grow many cultivated melliferous plants: buckwheat, sunflower. Therefore, in Altai, outstanding honey of many varieties is collected, from wild mountain honey to the widespread sunflower and buckwheat Altai honey.
