The Spassky District has a mostly flat landscape. On the territory of the region there is the Khanka nature reserve. Its flora is rich in valuable medicinal plants: eleutherococcus, aralia, lemongrass, rose hips, the legendary root of life – ginseng.
Dozens of representatives of the flora of the Spassky District are listed in the Red Book of the Russian Federation: Manchurian apricot, real ginseng, tall zamaniha, lady’s slipper, bulbous calypso (orchid), callous lily, lily lily (Maksimovich), milk-flowered peony, obovate peony (pink) protected plants. There are many relict and endemic plants. Of particular interest are lianas – several species of woody actinidia (kish-mouse), Chinese magnolia vine, wild grapes. The flora of the Spassky region is rich in medicinal plants that were used already in ancient times: ginseng, eleutherococcus, zamaniha, Amur velvet (seeds), St. John’s wort and many others.
That is why the healing properties of herbal honey from the Far East are so valuable.
