Republic of Adygea
The climate of the Republic of Adygea is moderately warm and mild. Thanks to the non-freezing Black Sea and the high ridges of the North Caucasus, which protect the territory from cold winds. One of the largest areas in Adygea is Maykop. The landscape of the region is picturesque and impressive: narrow rocky canyons, green fertile valleys, sky-high mountain peaks and mysterious stalactite caves will not leave anyone indifferent. Natural beauty of the area, its unique ecological characteristics.
An amazing natural monument – “Stone Sea”. Blocks of stones, buried in the multicolored honey plants. The southern part of the “Stone Sea” lies in the zone of alpine meadows, where buttercups, forget-me-nots, geraniums, Caucasian highlander (crayfish neck), sweet peas, valerian, primrose and many other low herbs bloom in summer. There are thickets of juniper and Caucasian rhododendron.
The northern part is forested. Fir, pine, birch, mountain maple form the upper layer, and mountain ash, currant, raspberry grow in the underbrush. In clearings in the middle of the forest, at the bottom of shallow craters, subalpine tall grasses are developed. Herbs such as cephalaria (gigantic capitate), Otonne’s wild rose, varifolia thistle, dark purple mytnik, nosed wrestler and others.
