The Kurinsky region, unique for its variety of reliefs, is located in the southern part of the Altai Territory in the foothills of the Altai mountains. In the north of the region there are steppes, in the middle zone of the foothills and mountains in the south – the highest point in the region is Mount Sinyukha (1210 meters above sea level).
In the north-east of the Kurinsky district, the famous Beloe Lake spreads its waters. The lake lies in the wide basin of the Kolyvan ridge, has a rounded shape, reaching 3 km in diameter. Around the lake there is a forest-steppe zone, in which more than 200 species of medicinal melliferous plants bloom with a rich variety of herbs. Forest honey plants – raspberries, wild currants, viburnum and honeysuckle, give mountain honey a fresh berry aroma and the benefits of pure nature. Deciduous and coniferous forests with shrubs grow in the foothills of the Kurinsky district.
